Circular hike Hitzeggen, Vella

The hike begins at the Triel middle station and leads across alpine meadows up to the first highlight, the small mountain lake in the middle of the forest. The clear water reflects the surrounding mountains and trees and radiates a relaxing tranquillity. The route continues through the forest to the Trutg da stiarls barbecue site and up to Fontauna nera. With a bit of luck, marmots can be observed here in front of their burrows. From Fontauna Nera it gets a little steeper. The hiking trail winds its way up through untouched nature to Cauma su. From there, the trail follows the slope to Hitzeggen. It's worth taking a break at Hitzeggen to enjoy the magnificent view. If you are already tired, you can take the chairlift back (check the timetable). The trail continues on foot in the direction of Péz Mundaun. At the “Indian hole”, as the locals call it, the descent begins across the alpine meadows back to Triel.

Alternative: Above the forest, at Crestas aultas, follow the road. The hike then leads past La Tegia and rejoins the hiking trail to Hitzeggen at Cauma su.

The hike can be shortened with a cable car ride. (Triel - Hitzeggen or return).
