Circular hike Val Trupchun in the Swiss National Park

Show all 10 images

Val Trupchun is known as the valley with the most game in the national park. During the deer rut at the end of September, many deer can be seen in Val Trupchun and their bellowing can be heard from afar. But deer, chamois, ibex and marmots can also be seen in the valley at other times of the year.

Description
The hike begins at the Prasüras parking lot in S-chanf, which can be reached by bus, car or the small Express Park Naziunel train. To the right of the parking lot, past the fireplace, the hiking trail leads up into the forest. At the first fork in the path, turn left towards the Swiss National Park. At the Punt da Scrins bridge, follow the road up to the right until the hiking trail branches off to the left at a bend and after a short time you will find yourself in the national park. Please make sure you familiarize yourself with the park rules on the information board! Follow the high trail into the valley. With binoculars or good eyesight and a little patience, you can spot chamois, deer and ibex, while eagles often circle in the sky and, with luck, even bearded vultures. The valley is also geologically interesting. The trail then leads down to the Ova da Trupchun, which is crossed on a wooden bridge and joins the valley path. Following this path further into the valley, you reach the first resting place after a few steps, surrounded by many marmots, which you can watch playing. Further back, at Alp Trupchun, is the second rest area. Here you can observe wild animals in a large area.
The way back leads along the valley path via Parkhütte Varusch on the road back to the Prasüras parking lot.
