Details
Description
Along the Edelweiss Path, you will be asked questions about the Swiss national flower. It covers its origin, naming, healing properties, and much more. The path is lined with life-sized Edelweiss steles that provide you with this information.
The Suntigweid storage lake invites you to linger with barbecue facilities and Edelweiss benches. At the oversized picture frame, you can capture your excursion en route with scenic photo shots with views extending to Lake Constance.
Hidden Gem
From the storage lake, you quickly reach the 2-Lakes Hike trail via a marked path (Sunntigweidweg).
Equipment
Directions
Our hike starts at the Pardiel station, where after a few meters we turn left uphill along the alpine road. The path steadily climbs towards Obersäss. There we follow the trail straight ahead past the Heidipfad and continue hiking to the idyllic Suntigweid lake.
From the lake, the gravel road leads uphill towards the Schwammlift mountain station. At the highest point of the route, we are rewarded with a spectacular view into the Rhine valley – perfect for a souvenir photo with the large picture frame, ideal for beautiful pictures.
After crossing a small creek, the path descends back towards Obersäss and finally returns to the starting point Pardiel.
Directions
Public Transport
The Pizol area is quickly and conveniently accessible by public transport: from Zurich and St. Gallen to Sargans or Bad Ragaz in one hour, and from Chur in 15 minutes. Buses run from the Sargans and Bad Ragaz train stations to the valley stations of the Pizol cable cars within a few minutes.
Travel Information
For the Wangs valley station, take the Sargans exit and for the Bad Ragaz valley station, take the Bad Ragaz Nord exit.
The valley stations are well signposted from the motorway exit.
The two valley stations are only 5 minutes from the motorway exit and are accessible in winter without snow chains or other aids.
