The Edelweiss Trail has been around since July 2017. It offers beautiful views over the Rhine Valley and as far as Lake Constance, interesting facts about the alpine flower Edelweiss, and the opportunity to rest in so-called alpine baskets at the reservoir lake.

Description

The route leads from the Pardiel mountain station along the Suntigweid reservoir lake and continues to the Schwamm mountain station. We pass eight life-size Edelweiss pillars where questions about the alpine flower are asked in a quiz game. It is especially pleasant to linger at the reservoir lake: here are some rustic alpine baskets and barbecue areas with breathtaking panoramic views.

Hidden Gem

At the Wissi Stei viewpoint at the Schwamm mountain station, another highlight awaits us: a large picture frame in front of which great photo shots can be taken.

Directions

From the Pardiel mountain station, it goes towards Alpstübli Pizol and then follows the signs towards Wissi Stei. From here, it returns in a loop southwards back to our starting point.

Bad Ragaz is served by train. The gondola up to Pardiel takes about 15 minutes.

Travel Information

Bad Ragaz is directly on the A13, which connects Chur and Zurich.

Parking

Directly at the valley station of the Pizol cable cars, there is a large public parking lot.
