The trail for wine lovers: From the wine stronghold Fläsch to the wine stronghold Maienfeld, the path leads mostly right through the vineyards. But otherwise, the Fläsch Trail mainly offers lots of nature and a wonderful view over the Bündner Herrschaft.

Description

The Outdoor Fitness Trails in the Heidiland holiday region include over 30 uniformly signposted running routes from a total of 10 stations, forming one of the largest outdoor fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Fläsch Trail is one of four running routes around the Bad Ragaz station.

The starting point for this 10.6 km long trail is the information point of the Bad Ragaz station at the outdoor pool Giessenpark (503 m above sea level). From here, it goes on a gravel path through the small forest to the Rhine embankment, which you follow for a few hundred meters northward. To get to the railway bridge that takes you to the other side of the Rhine, the trail runs for a few meters on a paved road through a residential area. Once you have crossed the Rhine, it continues on a paved lane to the restaurant Mühle, which is idyllically situated between the Rhine and meadows. From there, it follows an agricultural road along the edge of the forest into the idyllic village of Fläsch (528), with numerous wineries and winding alleys. After a short climb through the village up to the vineyards, the trail leads on agricultural paths partly right through the vines with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains and towns to Maienfeld. In Maienfeld itself, the trail runs on partly cobbled streets past historic buildings such as Salenegg Castle (540), the picturesque village square, and numerous wineries to the main road (504). From there, it goes along the sidewalk of the main road back to the Rhine. As soon as you cross the Rhine, the trail turns right onto the dam and from there on the promenade back to the information point at Giessenpark.
