Description
The outdoor fitness trails in the Heidiland holiday region comprise more than 30 uniformly signposted running paths from a total of 10 stations and thus form one of the largest open-air fitness parks in the Alpine region. The Fläsch-Trail is one of four running trails around the Bad Ragaz station.
The starting point for this 10.6 km long trail is the info point of the station Bad Ragaz at the outdoor pool Giessenpark (503 m.a.s.l.M). From here it goes on a gravel path across the small forest to the Rhine dam, which you follow for a few hundred meters to the north. To get to the railway bridge, which takes you to the other side of the Rhine, the trail runs for a few meters on a tarred road through inhabited area. Once you cross the Rhine, you continue on a paved road to the restaurant Mühle, which is idyllically located between the Rhine and meadows. From there it goes on an agricultural road along the edge of the forest to the middle of the idyllic village of Fläsch (528), with numerous wineries and winding alleys. After the short ascent through the village up to the vineyards, the trail leads on agricultural paths partly through the middle of the vines and with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains and villages to Maienfeld. In Maienfeld itself, the trail leads on partly paved roads past historic buildings such as Salenegg Castle (540), the picturesque village square and numerous wineries to the main road (504). From there it goes on the sidewalk along the main road back to the Rhine. As soon as you have crossed it, the trail turns right onto the dam and from there on the footpath back to the Infopoint at The Giessenpark.
