Description
Already the approach to Val Sumvitg is a small adventure and requires a car equipped for winter. From the settlement Val, you climb up the alpine road and reach Alp Naustge Dado after just under 800 meters of elevation gain. At 1965 m above sea level, you are now above the tree line. The landscape becomes more open. Over partly somewhat steeper slopes, you gain about 300 meters more elevation to the shoulder of Garvera. From one moment to the next, the panorama becomes very impressive. The wow factor is big. Now you climb leisurely over the broad shoulder to the flat, unnamed summit P.2437.
The descent follows the ascent route.
Hidden Gem
You can also end the route when you reach the Garvera shoulder (P.2324, summit cross). This saves about 30 minutes of ascent and around 100 meters of elevation on the shoulder.
Descent tip: From P.1882, below the Alp Naustgel, the descent through the forest is rather arduous with little snow. You can also take the road and only descend the route again from P.1727.
Safety Note
Ski and snowshoe tours in unsecured terrain require good knowledge in assessing avalanche danger and route planning. Furthermore, a complete safety kit must always be carried - regardless of the current avalanche danger.
We recommend the APP and website of WhiteRisk for preparation and planning of the route.
For carefree enjoyment, we recommend our mountain guides and snowshoe hiking leaders of the Surselva.
