Description

The Heidiland Bike cable car tour takes us from Unterterzen to Bad Ragaz - according to the motto: up by train, down by bike. Gondolas and chairlifts take over the climbs, so we can concentrate fully on the most beautiful trails.

The basis of the tour is the signposted SwitzerlandMobility Route Heidiland Bike No. 25. From the main route, the valley stations of the mountain railways are signposted with destination signposts - orientation is easy and reliable.

The route takes us along the flowing single trails of the Flumserberg, past the idyllic Chapfensee, through the natural Valeistobel and via Pardiel down to Bad Ragaz.

Whether on a long day of biking or divided into several stages with an overnight stay in the mountains - the cable car tour can be arranged at your own pace. In Bad Ragaz, the Tamina Therme is the crowning glory.

Hidden Gem

Plan the end at the Tamina Therme Bad Ragaz – the warm thermal water after a long day of biking is pure relaxation.

TRAIL CHARACTER AND DIFFICULTIES

Stage 1: Flumserberg - Mels

Prodchamm - Prodalp (Red Fox): Ride on the red trail of the BikerBerg Flumserberg. The route is a highlight for experienced Trailfahrer_innen. Trail beginners are recommended to start directly with the blue Trail Blue Salamander.

Prodalp – Tannenheim (Blue Salamander): Ride on the blue trail of the BikerBerg Flumserberg. The route is easy to ride for trail beginners.

Tannenheim – Portels: Natural single trails with individual steps and technical passages. Depending on the riding technique, individual sections may require sliding sections. Anticipatory driving is recommended.

Flums Kleinberg: Valtiosweg / Batschilsweg - short, steep section on gravel road. Easy to ride for experienced mountain bikers, otherwise pushing passage recommended.

Vermol – Mels: Old cart path with partly loose stones and some blocked passages. For experienced mountain bikers it can be ridden throughout, an adapted riding style is recommended. Alternatively, the descent to Mels can be completed by road.

Stage 2: Vilters-Wangs - Bad Ragaz

Vilters-Wangs – Schönbüel – Valeistobel: Single trail with rune crossings. Depending on the riding technique, sections may require sliding sections. Anticipatory driving is recommended.

Directions

From Unterterzen train station we take the gondola lift to the Flumserberg (Seejet mountain station, Tannenboden). The BlueBunny trail takes you to Tannenheim, where the cable car to Prodalp awaits. At the top, there are various trail options open to us: either directly via Trail BlueSalamander back to Tannenheim - or with the chairlift up to the Prodkamm, descend Trail RedRock and then via BlueSalamander to Tannenheim.

From Tannenheim we follow the Schils descent to Flumserberg Portels, turn off in the direction of Flumserberg Saxli and take the mountain railway up to Schönhalden (1487 m). From Schönhalden we start Route 25 through alpine alpine landscape. On the way we pass the Chapfensee - a worthwhile rest. Continue to Vermol, via Alten Vermölerweg (or tarred road) down to Mels, then to Wangs to the valley station of the Pizolbahnen.

The mountain railway takes us up to the ford. From there we drive in the direction of Schönbüel and continue through the natural Valaistobel down to Vilters to the valley station of the Pizolbahnen. The cable car takes you up to Pardiel (1626 m). The final descent leads via single trail and forest road to Bad Ragaz.
