Heidiland hiking route 6: Pizol - Bad Ragaz

The last stage of the Heidiland hiking route is characterized by fantastic views over the Sarganserland, Rhine Valley, and the Bündner Herrschaft with Heidi's alpine and mountain world behind. From Furt, you hike downhill towards Maienberg. At Garschlu, leave the path at a sharp left turn. After passing the mountain hotel and restaurant Schönbühl, you hike through dense forest before the panorama opens up again towards Vilterser Sonnenberg. You repeatedly cross small bridges during the descent, seven in total. After Sonnenberg, the last part passes through loose mixed forest and soon the Freudenberg ruins come into view on the left, one of the largest castle complexes in the region, proudly situated on a hill. Shortly after, you reach the world spa resort Bad Ragaz. Here, at the end of the Heidiland hiking route, you can relax comfortably in one of the many cafés or indulge in the healing thermal waters of the Tamina Thermal Spa.

An overnight stay in Bad Ragaz to conclude the route is highly recommended. Treat yourself in the spa resort at one of the many wellness oases, enjoy the culinary variety, or visit the Bündner Herrschaft just across the Rhine with the Heidi village in Maienfeld and the extensive vineyard landscape.
