Surselva hut route (3 stages)
Show all 8 images
The Surselva, also known as the Bündner Oberland, especially in the lower region around Laax and Ilanz, has a lot to offer in terms of mountain biking. On the three-day mountain bike hut route through the alpine mountain world of the Surselva, two of the most extraordinary mountain huts are visited: the Ustria Staila in Siat and the Casa Leon in Vrin. But the route is also excellent regarding trails. The Flimserwald, the singletrail descent from Siat, the Val Lumnezia, and the Tomülpass are some of the big but lesser-known trail highlights of Graubünden on the itinerary.

Description
The Surselva hut route is a three-day mountain bike route in the region between Chur, Flims, and Vals. The ascents are primarily made under your own power and lead over well-ridable paths. The ascent to Vals is made by post bus. The descents mainly take place on smoothly rideable singletrails; however, experience in alpine mountain biking is advantageous. On the hut route, all luggage for three days is carried in the backpack; there is no luggage transport possible. However, the selected huts offer hotel standards.
Starting point: The Surselva hut route starts in Flims. Ideally, you travel by car or public transport to Chur and take the post bus from there to Flims. Taking mountain bikes along is easily possible; every post bus has a rear rack for up to five bicycles.
E-mountain bike: The Surselva hut route is also easily feasible with an e-mountain bike. However, experience in battery management is necessary to reach the stage goal with one charge. There are power outlets in the huts to recharge the battery, but it is important to bring your own charger.
