Description
The starting point of the winter hike is the Davos Frauenkirch train station, reachable from Davos Platz in a few minutes. The path leads past the Landhuus inn and turns right after a few meters towards Lengmatta. On Lengmattastrasse, it gently ascends past beautiful, widely spaced Walser houses. When the Walser, coming from the distant Valais, settled in the Landwasser valley, they brought their own language and a distinctive architectural style. The farmhouses built in traditional log construction can be encountered repeatedly on the Lengmatta path. After Lengmatta, it takes about ten minutes to a junction, where the path continues slightly to the right onto Chummastrasse. Over the rushing Chummerbach and through a small forest, it leads to the small settlement Hitzenboden, with a magnificent view over the Landwasser valley. Several hundred meters downstream, there is another junction where the path leads left down to Davos Glaris.
