The cross-country ski trail in Degen is located at the eastern edge of the village near the freestanding chapel of Sogn Bistgaun. The trail first meanders over a meadow; flat parts alternating with small uphill and downhill sections. The mountain backdrop along the way includes Péz Terri, Péz Regina and Pala da Tgiern.

Description

In the plain of Degen, you will find a cross-country ski trail approximately 4 km long with a fantastic view of the mountains of Lumnezia. The cross-country trail runs over a rather flat terrain and is thus suitable for beginners as well as professionals; it is prepared both for classic and skating styles. The trail entrance is located on the upper edge of Degen, about 100 m from the parking lot.


Trail passes can be obtained at the information office in Vella. Day passes can be purchased at the trail.               


Night trail every Tuesday and Thursday 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          


Important note 


From 6:00 PM the trail is closed for grooming. Running on a freshly groomed trail destroys it for the next day. We ask that the trail only be used in the evening on the designated days.

A part of the trail (about 1 km) is illuminated every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. 

Equipment

Good cross-country equipment is necessary for this route. Great importance should be placed on functional cross-country clothing, appropriate cross-country shoes, poles of the correct length, and cross-country skis that have grown and fit in length. To protect your eyes, sports goggles with UV protection should be worn. Our sports shops in Surselva will be happy to advise you.


Cross-country equipment can be rented at Menzli Sport in Vella.

Directions

Public Transport

Take the RhB to Ilanz, then continue with the post bus towards Vrin to the stop Vella posta. In Vella, change to the post bus to Degen. 


During the winter season, the post bus on the Ilanz – Vrin line as well as on other lines in the entire municipality area of Lumnezia can be used free of charge by everyone.

Travel Information

Take the motorway exit Reichenau / Flims / Ilanz, in Ilanz take the exit towards Vrin, at Degen Rampa turn left towards Degen.

Parking

Parking lots are located on the upper edge of the village of Degen, about 100 m from the trail.
