Description

The most challenging stage starts in the small hamlet of S-charl at the border of the Swiss National Park. From S-charl, the hike continues via Alp Sesvenna through the Val Sesvenna and over the Fuorcla Sesvenna to the AVS Sesvenna shelter. Due to renovation work on the Sesvenna hut, overnight stays are not possible. Therefore, the route will continue to Schlinig in 2025 (approx. 45 minutes of additional walking time).

Hidden Gem

The last brown bear in Switzerland was killed in S-Charl, and the bear museum provides an exciting insight into the history of bears.

Directions

By public transport, you arrive at the beautiful small village of S-Charl. From here, the path starts through the Val Sesvenna along the Aua Sesvenna stream, which already bears the name of the stage destination. After a short flat ascent, the steepest part of the stage begins, with around 800 meters of altitude gained. Upon reaching Lajet de Lischana, it is worth taking a short break and enjoying the magnificent view. The route leads past various lakes to the Schlinig Pass, where the border to South Tyrol is crossed. The last meters invite you to relax again before reaching the stage destination, the AVS Sesvenna shelter.
