Description

Day 1 Ascent with the Madrisa Mountain Railway to Saaser Alp, hike to Untersäss and onward to Obersäss. Scenic resting place. From here over green ridges of Glatteggen into the high valley Chüecalanda. Straight ahead to Rätschenjoch and over Gafierplatten (rock alternation gneiss-limestone) through the Butzchammeren to the Gafier Joch, where you enter Austria. Continue to the mountain station of the Schafberg Railway and then down to Gargellen, where you spend the night.

Hidden Gem

Can also be booked as a package "On Smugglers' Trails." During the smuggler tour, a series of tasks must be completed, just as was the case with the real smugglers. There are nine depots with smuggled goods as well as a customs hut to find, nowadays naturally using GPS. The hiding places contain, besides smuggled goods and interesting facts about them, anecdotes from the lives of the smugglers. They also provide "life-saving" clues, namely GPS data leading to the next depot and thus to the goal of the smuggler tour.
