Muottas-Muragl-Schneeschuhtrail

Already the ride with the Muottas Muragl funicular gives an idea of the fantastic view that awaits on this route. The further the oldest mountain railway in the Engadine climbs towards the summit, the wider the view opens to the vast valley. Once at the top, you should take some time and let your eyes wander from the Bernina group over the Val Roseg and the lake district to Piz Padella before starting.

Even beginners can safely complete the snowshoe hiking trail. The indicated route initially follows the mountain ridge of Muottas Muragl along the Philosopher's Path. "In youth all thoughts belong to love, later all love belongs to thoughts," is an example of what can be read here. In addition to this quote from Albert Einstein, nine other markers with sayings from famous thinkers like Socrates or Sartre show the way.

After this intellectual ascent, the panoramic view is again the focus: following the scenic mountain ridge of Val Champagna, the Plaun dals Müls plateau is reached. Here half of the route is already done. Through the Val Muragl – with the Bernina group and the frozen lake district in view – it goes back to the mountain hotel.
