  • Check the avalanche transceiver (LVS) before every ascent/descent.

  • Carry a backpack with a snow shovel, avalanche probe, and first aid kit.

  • Consider possible weather changes.

  • Never "ride" alone! Always watch each other and be ready to react!

Directions

From Casaccia to Alp Maroz Dent, the route mostly follows the summer hiking trail. From Maroz Dent, it continues westward into the Magnocca basin. The path ascends to about 2280 m and then swings south/southwest into the Val da la Duana. Shortly before the lake, it heads southward, passing through the eastern cirque of Piz Duan over several steps up to below the east summit and then westward, lastly steeply, to the summit peak.

Descent follows the ascent route. Under good conditions, it is possible to ski down directly to Val Maroz from about 2570 m to the east.
