Description

Take the train to Preda and climb up to the crystal-clear Palpuognasee. The path continues uphill along the lake shore, first along the pass road, then turning right to the green-blue lakes of Crap Alv Lajets and further up to the Fuorcla Crap Alv. Enjoy the view into Val Bever and of the distinctive Piz Ot. The descent down into Val Bever is steep, where you reach the alp road. A certain surefootedness is required for the descent. The final part leads comfortably to Bever.

If you still haven't had enough, we recommend the rear Val Bever, where the landscape and especially the Beverin river can be seen in its wild, unspoilt state. Against this backdrop, it has been awarded the ‘Gewässerperle PLUS’ label since summer 2021.

Gewässerperle PLUS – a natural gem of national importance

The Beverin is the first river in Switzerland to be awarded the ‘Gewässerperle PLUS’ label. The 13.5-kilometre-long mountain stream received this special honour because it has remained largely untouched by humans – a true wild stream without artificial corrections. From its source near Piz d'Err to just before Bever, the Beverin meanders freely through the picturesque Val Bever, surrounded by valuable fens and floodplain landscapes. This unspoilt mountain water world provides an ideal habitat for many rare animal and plant species, including otters, brown trout, stoneflies and numerous willow species. The label recognises not only the ecological value of the Beverin, but also the commitment of the municipality of Bever to preserving this unique natural paradise.

The Lai da Palpuogna is an oasis of relaxation with its crystal-clear water and larch forest. Linger at one of the picnic areas with a fire pit. You can reach the "most beautiful spot in Switzerland" from Preda train station.

Natural forest Crap Alv - Ervedi

The natural forest reserve is located between Preda and the Albula Pass at an altitude of 1800 to 2200 m above sea level. So far up, the vegetation period is short and mountain pine and larch pine forests grow.

Source of the Albula

At Crap Alv the Albula rises and forms a small waterfall. Along the hiking trail there are always small clear lakes to discover. If you follow the hiking trail to the Crap Alv Laiets, you will come across more small lakes.
