Description
On a “secret path” we leave Ilanz towards Castrisch and Valendas. On the village square, by the largest wooden fountain in Europe, you could refresh yourself for the upcoming and sweat-inducing ascent to the mountain village of Dutjen.
With a slight burning in the thighs, step by step we approach the high plateau, which rewards us with splendid flower meadows and a magnificent panoramic view over the Surselva and the Rhine Gorge.
The descent via Riein partly runs over the old village road and challenges you technically for a short time. Before Ilanz, there are a few meters of gravel enjoyment to finish this magnificent route.
Hidden Gem
Country inn in the village of Ober Dutjen. A refreshment is almost a must after this ascent. In all villages, there are fountains to refill water bottles.
Safety Note
In uncertain weather conditions, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in good time.
