Description

This simple gravel bike tour starts and ends at Thusis train station and is ideal for an enjoyable ride without technical demands. Shortly after the start, the route leaves the settlement area and follows the Hinterrhein river through the open valley plain into Domleschg. The surroundings are characterized by extensive cultural landscapes, agricultural areas and quiet path sections away from motorized traffic.

Along the way, paved sections alternate with firm gravel paths, creating a smooth and rideable course. Several wooden bridges over the Hinterrhein form scenic highlights and offer beautiful views of the river course as well as the surrounding mountains. A cultural highlight is the Reformed Church Sils in Domleschg, which is worth a short detour or stop.

The route is mostly flat to gently rolling and is therefore suitable for less experienced gravel bikers. Thanks to the clear route guidance and the clear topography, relaxed riding is the focus. The return trip to Thusis takes place on varied, low-traffic paths before returning to the starting point at the station.

Thanks to the direct connection to public transport, the tour can be ideally planned as a half-day or full-day trip and appeals especially to guests who value sustainable travel. Overall, the route offers a balanced combination of natural experience, regional culture and relaxed gravel biking in the Viamala region.
