Description
The Rinerhorn cable car takes about ten minutes from the village of Glaris to the summit. In good weather, you can see all the way to the historic Schatzalp from here. On the other side of the valley, it's time to sit back and take a deep breath – because the 3.5-kilometer-long Rinerhorn toboggan run is considered one of the most challenging far and wide. Its curves are extremely steep, requiring a lot of steering and braking skill. The start itself is intense, featuring a steep section including a tunnel passage: you should pass safely through its entrance and exit before the path flattens a bit and winds steadily through the fir forest. Further down, there are more steep sections characterized by spectacular steep wall curves. These continue to the end of the run. Fortunately, the local bus safely brings tobogganers home even late at night, especially since you might want to hand over the steering to someone else for once.
