Description

This road cycling route starts in Zillis (944 m a.s.l.) and leads you through the villages of the Muntogna da Schons, German for the villages of the Schams mountain. Until Donat, it is still a warm-up, but after that, the rhythmic and entertaining climb to Lohn (1585 m a.s.l.) really begins. The climb is a hidden gem, hardly anything better exists for road cycling enthusiasts – perfect asphalt, fantastic hairpin turns, almost no traffic. From Lohn, the panoramic road meanders with some fast turns and epic panorama to Mathon (1555 m a.s.l.) and Wergenstein (1486 m a.s.l.). A steep, concreted agricultural road takes you to Casti (1170 m a.s.l.). At the entrance to Donat, the route turns right and leads over an impressive wooden bridge to Clugin (1006 m a.s.l.) and finally back down to the valley at the Hinterrhein. On the Rhine bike path, you then ride leisurely back to the starting point Zillis.
