Sardona-Welterbe-Weg: Stage 1

The starting point of the first stage is Habergschwänd. From here you have an impressive view of the imposing Churfirsten - a natural monument of national importance. From Habergschwänd to the turn-off at AlpHummel, you will find information boards on geological phenomena in the Sardona World Heritage Site on a partly newly created hiking trail. The stage leads up to the Mürtschenfurggel, past the so-called Hellloch doline, a large depression created by the collapse of an underground cavity. Past the Spaneggsee, the route continues up to the Mürtschenalp, where various ores were mined in the 1850s. The subsoil here is colored blood red due to red clay slate from the Verrucano Group. By the way, the Murg lakes, which are rich in fish, are a Mecca for fishermen (patents can be purchased locally).
