Description
This circular hike leads through the unique natural and cultural landscape of the Beverin Nature Park. Halfway, you reach the mountain lake Libi, located at the foot of Piz Beverin, the centerpiece of the regional nature park. The park is known for deep gorges, intact village images, landscape-defining churches, and majestic ibex. The hike starts at the Romansh mountain village Mathon. The ascent to the Maiensäss Mursenas passes through valuable dry pastures as well as a calcareous fen with the Bladder Gentian. From Mursenas, it continues through colorful hay meadows with intoxicatingly fragrant Pasque Flowers to a rare botanical feature: a tussock grassland with Cotton Grass. At Libi, a resting opportunity with a view into Val Schons awaits. The route then goes downhill along dry meadows of national importance with Black Mallow and Arnica. Upon reaching the village of Lohn, you can stop for a break, take the PostBus, or continue along the sound trail back to Mathon. Shortly before the end, a botanical delicacy awaits: the Felted Burdock.
