Description

The starting point is the Bündner road village Filisur with its houses featuring bay windows and sgraffito decorations, which today can be pleasantly visited thanks to the bypass road. The starting point of this easy winter hike is the Filisur train station; it leads along a steadily ascending road through light forest up to Schönboden. There you can enjoy a beautiful view of Filisur and the lower Albula valley.

The return route goes on the hiking trail to the Greifenstein castle ruins, which tower on a rock above the first spiral tunnel of the Rhaetian Railway. It was initially the seat of the Lords of Greifenstein, a high noble Bündner family from the 13th century. Later it became the seat of the episcopal bailiffs with farms in the village area. The return path crosses the Rhaetian Railway line twice before ending at the train station, where the charming restaurant "Bahnhöfli" invites you to a refreshment.
