Details
Description
We start over open terrain, passing on the left the sunburnt Walser houses of Surrein. If no one has broken trail before us, it can be quite a workout. But the wonderful landscape, through deeply snow-covered firs and birches, distracts from the effort.
After the barn of Sut Seiv we reach the closed forest and a forest road leads us in a long curve through the wildlife quiet zone up to the mountain station of the Tgom cable car.
Now we follow the wide ridge, which for safety reasons must not be left under any circumstances, up to the hut in Stavel Sisum. To the right of our track there is a system for automatic avalanche release. Such a release causes a loud bang, but the safety of the route is not endangered.
The hut is an ideal place for a rest with a picnic before we hike back down the same way.
Hidden Gem
By registration at the tourism office: ascent with the Tgom aerial cable car, from 8.00 a.m. Tel. +41(0)81 920 40 30
Safety Note
Print out the topo map to better orient yourself on site.
The forest below Tgom lies in a wildlife quiet zone, so the path must not be left. Also, the wide ridge above the mountain station must under no circumstances be left for safety reasons. Attention: To the right of the track on the ridge there is a system for automatic avalanche release. Such a release causes a loud bang. However, the safety of the route is not endangered in any way.

Directions
At the bridge below Surrein, we climb southwards over open terrain to the forest road that leads into the valley towards Nalps. However, before the curve, by the last house on the left (white), we turn right onto a narrower forest road, whose track can usually still be seen. At the end of the wide path, it goes up through a forest clearing to the closed forest. There we meet another forest road, which leads in a wide arc through the forest to the mountain station of the cable car. From here we always stay in the middle of the wide ridge up to the Stavel Sisum hut. (hut is closed) The same way returns back down to the valley.
