Details
Description
At the train station in Segnas, we first hike up to the village. During the French raid in 1799, Segnas was spared from fires, allowing the several hundred-year-old farmhouses to be preserved today. On the forest road to Alp Run Cunel, it goes gently uphill, then we switch to a hiking trail that, after several hairpin bends, leads us to the Mises dil Bostg. This is the highest point of the hike, a reason to take a break and study the mountain panorama with and without eternal snow. Above Bugnei, we encounter a young forest that arose after the Vivian storm through reforestation and is now richer in species than ever. The descent to Sedrun is very easy.
From Sedrun, we return by train to Segnas.
Safety Note
Fairtrail: Hikers share the path section-wise with mountain bikers.
Directions
From the train station, we hike northwards to Segnas, which is within sight. We follow the hiking trail signs through the village to the upper end. Then comes a natural road that leads into the Val Segnas. At the next junction, we keep left towards Prau Sura. At Run Cunel, we continue straight on for a while. We reach the junction to the hiking trail to the right, towards Bostg. At the Mises dil Bostg, however, we stay at the same elevation and walk westwards towards Sedrun. We reach a crossroad where we continue straight ahead. This brings us onto a forest road in the Val Bugnei. We follow this for a short stretch until the junction to the left towards Sedrun. Then follows the descent through the Val Bugnei, which we leave to the right above a water reservoir. Don’t miss it! We continue hiking on a high-altitude path until we reach Sedrun.
