Directions
The hike starts at the Tourism Office Visit Vals. From here, follow the village road uphill. After 20 minutes’ walk, you reach Valé shortly after the entrance to the gondola parking lot, where the entrance to the Old Zerfreila Trail is located. Follow this until it leads into Zerfreila Street. From Gross Cher, walk along the gravel road towards Ziegenalp. In Bord, at the signpost towards Marchegga and Selvasee, turn right onto the hiking path into the forest. The path becomes significantly steeper and ascends through shady forest. This section requires some stamina until you reach the upper forest line. Now it becomes easier, with a slight ascent, continue left to Heinisch Stafel. The marked hiking trail from there leads towards Selvasee. The last more challenging ascent leads over alpine meadows to the beautifully located Selvasee – a hidden gem at over 2,297 m above sea level, inviting you to linger, picnic or enjoy a refreshing swim. The return route leads back the same way to Heinisch Stafel, but from there turns right past Alp Selva to Peil.
