Description

In the morning, the hike starts from the Biferten Hut up to the Falla Leng. The terrain is barren and rocky, and with some luck, chamois can be observed. At the Fuorcla da Gavirolas, the scenery changes: wide alpine meadows, ringing cowbells, and sparkling streams accompany the path. Behind a ridge, the view opens to the Panixer Pass and the majestic Graubünden mountain world. Instead of turning off towards the pass, the path continues to the Alp Mer.

A special highlight is the crossing under the Crap Tigliau, not least because of the turquoise-colored Lag da Pigniu, shimmering deep below. Past the Alp Ranasca, the stage finally ends in the charming mountain village of Pigniu.

Note: In Pigniu, there is only one hotel and dining option: the Hotel Alpina. On Mondays and Tuesdays, the hotel/restaurant is closed. Bus connections to Ilanz are limited; therefore, check the departure times in advance on the SBB App and plan the hike accordingly.

Hidden Gem

For the tour, an early reservation of the huts is necessary, as the places are limited.

Safety Note

The tour should not be started in uncertain weather conditions. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Equipment

For the long-distance hike, it is recommended: hiking backpack with rain cover, good hiking shoes or trekking shoes with a firm profile, weather-appropriate clothing in the multilayer principle including rain and sun protection, change of clothes, provisions and drinking water, telescopic poles, a first aid kit, pocket knife, headlamp, maps, hut sleeping bag as well as personal hygiene articles.
