Description
The route starts at the parking lot at the camping site at the end of the airfield and leads right at the Gravatscha lake up into the Val Champagna. The Val Champagna is probably one of the least frequented valleys in the Upper Engadin. Along the Ova da Val Champagna it immediately starts with a steep ascent. Over a distance of 5.6 km, 1100 meters of elevation must be accomplished continuously up to the highest point. Passing the water intake of the small power station Val Champagna, you slowly leave the forest and soon reach Chamanna Val Champagna, where the gradient decreases slightly for a short time. The hiking trail first passes through a somewhat swampy area before becoming steeper and more challenging again uphill. The last ramp, before reaching the Fuorcla, becomes rocky and demands what seem to be the last reserves. Hardly reached the Fuorcla, you can see on the other side the Lej Muragl, a beautiful mountain lake located slightly below the route. On the high path, where in winter the popular philosophers' path is laid out, it goes gently downhill with a fantastic view to Muottas Muragl. Past the mountain hotel Muottas Muragl, the steep descent begins again back to the camping site.
