Description
The hike begins at St. Moritz Bad next to the Signalbahn and follows the cross-country ski trail up to the Olympic ski jumping hill. Past the frozen Lej Marsch, where you can swim beautifully in the summer, the path descends to the Champfèr Lake. Here, the entire panorama of the Engadin opens up. The destination of the hike can already be anticipated.
The hike continues across the lake to the Surlej bridge. Impressive: the view of Piz da la Margna and, in the background, of the Bergell mountains. From the Surlej bridge, a wonderful view opens up over the expanse of the lake landscape, which you can really enjoy while walking across the Silvaplana Lake. A detour through the village of Sils is particularly worthwhile because of its old Engadin houses.
Now the last stage across the Silsersee is tackled. South of the Chastè peninsula, you enter the frozen lake and walk towards the sun past the hamlet of Isola. There is a beautiful resting spot with a wide view over the Silsersee before the last few kilometers to Maloja and the subsequent way back are undertaken.
