Short exciting discovery route from Splügen through alpine landscapes to the Suretta Lakes.
Details
Description
The route leads from the pass village Splügen initially along the historic mule track towards Splügenpass. Above the village, the path branches off to the left and at point 1589 turns right into the Fugschtwald. Now it goes zigzag up until the forest clears and alpine roses shape the landscape. Soon you cross the path coming from the Isabrücke and continue through marshy and rocky landscapes to the first level with the Under Suretta Lake. The trail leads only through blocky terrain up to the Upper Suretta Lake at 2266 m a.s.l. Here a jetty with a fishing boat invites you to rest with a view of the high alpine terrain.
Now the path goes down through prickly and partly wet marsh grass towards the northeast. After some gentle steps, you cross the Leimtobel. At the first crossroads, turn left onto the forest path to Panell. From here briefly turn right onto the road and then left again onto the trail down to the Hinterrhein. Along the river back to Splügen.
Hidden Gem
Worthwhile from spring to autumn.
The fishing boat on the Upper Suretta Lake can be used free of charge and at your own risk for a round on the lake.
On the other shore of the lake and at the rear Turra Lake there are cozy and quiet places to linger.
The lake hut can be booked for an overnight stay (not catered).
