Entertaining hiking round for those not afraid of heights. T2
Details
Description
We begin our hike in Curaglia on the lightly trafficked road to Mutschnengia, and soon we can turn left onto a driveable road. We cross the Rein da Medel over a Roman bridge. It is assumed that merchants and pilgrims already crossed the stream at this point in the Middle Ages. We also take a look at the pretty little chapel in Pali, dating back to the 17th century. From here the path rises evenly until we finally reach the forest edge on a hiking trail.
After a short and steep descent, we see it! The suspension bridge made of larch wood has a span of almost 100 meters and in the middle we have a vertical drop of 40 meters. It was built by forestry apprentice trainees in just 4 weeks.
Between the sunburnt houses and barns of the hamlet of Mutschnengia, we find many beautiful photo motives. Time seems to have stood still.
At the lower end of the village we find the hiking trail back down to the valley and back to Curaglia.
Hidden Gem
At the panoramic restaurant Cuntera we enjoy a "Marenda Medellina" or a dessert.
Safety Note
The path is not continuously suitable for strollers (short but steep hiking section in the forest)
Directions
From the Lukmanier Pass road we follow the signpost to Mutschnengia. Before we reach the stream completely, we turn left onto the driveable road. A little later, a hiking trail branches off down to the stream and on the other side to the Pali chapel. On a forest road, we gain height until the junction with a hiking trail leading to the forest edge. Now we descend slightly until we reach the suspension bridge. From Mutschnengia, the hiking trail leads past Hotel Cuntera downhill back to the stream. Then follows the last ascent up to Curaglia.
