Description

The route starts at the parking lot at the end of the small Grisons village Pigniu. Upon arriving at Alp Miez (1804 m a.s.l.), the path continues left next to the barn uphill towards Alp Sura, where the entrance to the trail is located. It is worth taking a look at the distance covered and this beautiful panoramic view at the latest here. Through this special and calm landscape, you get the feeling of being far from civilization. The fun starts now and the path continues more or less at the same altitude up to the approach of Panixerpass. Here, there is the opportunity to observe ibex and other wildlife such as moles and grouse. At the approach to the pass, you can decide if your legs, conditioning, and motivation are sufficient to add Panixerpass. For the second part of the route, it is advisable to refill your water bottles. The path to Pigniu is well signposted; now you more than deserve a visit to the pub.

Waterfalls at Panixersee. 

Keep your eyes open, you may spot some wildlife.

Safety Note

If weather conditions are uncertain, the route should not be started. Weather changes are frequent in the mountains. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Equipment

Trail running shoes with good tread and a grippy sole, weather-appropriate clothing, first aid kit, drinks and food.

Take bus 423 towards Pigniu and get off at the Pigniu post stop. Exact connections can be found on the SBB website: www.sbb.ch

Travel Information

Take the A13 to Reichenau, then Hauptstrasse 19 via Flims to Rueun and then up to Pigniu (Panix).

The parking lot is located at the end of the village (Pigniu).
