Description

From Trun train station, you ride towards Camping Trun and follow the mountain bike route "1 Alpine Bike" towards Disentis. The gentle ascent through the alder forests along the young Rhine is ideal to warm up for the steep climb into the Val Russein. In Madernal, you leave the "1 Alpine Bike" route and follow the mountain bike route "208 Val Russein". At the main road, you first pass the wooden bridge over 150 years old. It is one of three bridges in close vicinity: the old wooden bridge, a road bridge, and a railway bridge. After five more switchbacks, you reach point 1222, where the partly challenging single trail branches off to the right towards Sumvitg. After enjoying the single trail, the second climb on gravel and asphalt roads toward Sogn Benedetg follows. From S. Benedetg, the route mainly leads down over various single trails to Rabius and further to Campliun. Now begins the last short climb to the chapel Nossadunna dalla Glisch before returning over the Cartatscha avalanche dam back to the starting point in Trun.

Hidden Gem

A visit to the Chapel Sogn Benedetg by star architect Peter Zumthor must not be missed on this route.

For bike enthusiasts, this highlight in the region is a must: Bike park, climbing wall and barbecue/playground Igniu near Rabius. A must before or after the route.

Safety Note

In uncertain weather conditions, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are frequent. If a rain front or similar approaches during the route, you should turn back in time.

Respect other trail users - trail tolerance!

WARNING the trails are not suitable for families!
