Directions
Up the lane from the square. Keep left at the Hotel Valserhof. In the first curve, turn right following the goods road, ascending the slope in curves up to Aberschhus. From there, follow the path to the Maiensässes Kartütscha, Uf der Matta (1734 m), and Tschifera. From the Maiensäss Tschifera, gently descend into the valley to Inder Peil. There is a refreshment option at the Peil kiosk. Opening hours as posted.
From Peil back to Vals on the Peilerstrasse. (Variant: From Peil over the Peiler farms joining the Peilerstrasse later. Passing the farms Hofli, Furrahus, Chappelihus, and Bodahus and through the forest onto the Peilerstrasse.) Follow the Peilerstrasse back to Vals. Initially in the sun, then through the forest. At first still next to the Peiler stream, later above it. (At Bord, there is an option to shorten the route by descending the very steep meadow path from Bord to Balma to Vals.) Otherwise, follow the Peilerstrasse to Gross Cheer, where the Peilerstrasse meets the Zerfreilastrasse. From there, continue to Vals.
Alternative to Peil: Vals - Ronggkapelle - Illagrass (over the inner Illagrass bridge onto the Peilerstrasse. Then continue to Peil.)
