Show all 6 images
The well-secured via ferrata is a worthwhile alternative for the hut approach and is very suitable for families with appropriate experience.
This route is also highly recommended as an extended day route from Trun.
Details
Description
There are several approaches to the hut or to the via ferrata. Here, we limit ourselves to the longest variant from Trun. If you want to know more about the alternatives, please refer to the website of Camona da Punteglias CAS.
The actual via ferrata takes about 1.5 hours from the start to the hut. The junction from the hiking trail is marked with a wooden sign. The further course of the route is well marked with yellow triangles. The well-secured via ferrata, difficulty level K2, was newly installed in an interesting manner in 2018. It leads over slabs, past rock roofs, and includes frequent walking sections. If you are caught by a thunderstorm, you can leave the via ferrata toward the hut trail via the two emergency exits.
The stated hiking time refers to the round trip.
Hidden Gem
We recommend an overnight stay at the Punteglias hut and the next day a descent via Alp da Schlans to Brigels.
Those who want to do the route in one day can get the necessary energy at the hut. Simple meals are available in beautiful mountain scenery.
Safety Note
Via ferratas are life-threatening during thunderstorms. The metal anchors conduct the lightning directly away.
Equipment
Good hiking boots with good soles, weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket), possibly change of clothes, first aid kit, drink, food.
Complete via ferrata equipment: via ferrata set with helmet, possibly gloves.
