Description
From the Flims guest information, you pass the Yellow House and go through quiet side streets towards Fidaz. The old Walser village is impressive with its historic farmhouses and the unique view over the Rhine Gorge. Passing pastures and meadows, you walk through the Uaul da Fidaz, up to the Belmont castle ruin. Please note the strict path regulations between Fidaz and Bargis. The Uaul da Fidaz is the habitat of the capercaillie, a rare and disturbance-sensitive forest bird, which nests on the ground in the thicket from May to mid-July and raises its young.
The ruins tell stories; about 1000 years ago, the complex was built deep in the forest between Fidaz and Bargis. In clear weather, the ruins of Crap Sogn Parcazi castle near Trin can be seen. The castle was the ancestral seat of the barons of Belmont and was inhabited until the 14th century. After exploring the old walls, the final ascent to the mountain house Bargis awaits. If you want to explore more here, you can make a detour to the La Runsna waterfalls. After a break, you proceed to Trutg la Bleica; the hiking trail leads along narrow paths and bridges on the steep slope. The path ends above Fidaz on the high path; via Quadris, it goes back to Flims.
Hidden Gem
To shorten the route, you can take the local bus to the edge of the forest in Fidaz or take the bus back to Flims from Bargis.
