Description

The old road between Rabius and Surrein is perfect for a scenic walk. Newly also open in winter as a winter hiking trail.


The winter hiking trails Sumvitg - Runs - Rabius / Rabius - Surrein and Surrein - Resgia (Cumpadials) can be combined into the Las Squadras trail.


Please observe the current signage regarding any possible path closures.

Safety Note

In uncertain weather conditions, the route should not be started. Weather changes in the mountains are common. If a rain front or similar approaches during the hike, you should turn back in time.

Equipment

Weather-appropriate clothing (rain jacket), possibly change of clothes, drink and food.

Directions

The route leads from Rabius station along the old road above the Igniu playground and barbecue area towards Surrein.


In Surrein, you pass by the Trun - Disentis cross-country ski trail.

Public Transport

By train via Chur or Göschenen


From Göschenen via Disentis or from Chur directly with the RhB to Rabius-Surrein


The circular walk can be started from Rabius station in the direction of Surrein. 

Travel Information

By car via Chur


From Zurich on the N 3 or from St. Gallen on the N 13 to Chur and then continue to the Reichenau exit towards Disentis/Ilanz/Flims until Rabius.
From Rabius continue on to Surrein.


By car via Göschenen


From Basel on the N 2 via Lucerne to Göschenen, then continue on the old mountain pass road through the Schöllenenschlucht to Andermatt and over the Oberalp Pass/Disentis to Rabius. From Rabius continue on to Surrein.
