Details
Description
We hike from the Sedrun train station away from the main road to Rueras. In the old village center, beautiful old wooden houses catch our eye. At the Rhine, prepare for a longer stay because the children will want to spend quite some time at the large Fontauna playground or at the two small lakes on the Plaun da pors. In the following shady forest, there is a small nature reserve on the left side of the path, which was created in connection with the NEAT construction site. At the Vorderrhein power station, the river's water is dammed for the first time to generate electricity. The necessary generators are located in a cavern inside the mountain; the red gate to the right of the path is the entrance. On the way to Surrein, we have a view on the left side of the former NEAT construction site; the entrance to the tunnel for the intermediate attack is located directly below the road. Once we reach the houses of Surrein, we see the Lag da Claus. In this valley basin, excavation material was stored during the construction of the base tunnel. During renaturation, this idyllic bathing lake with a sandy beach, raft, and lots of meadow around it was created. On the traffic-calmed road to Sedrun, we finish our valley route.
Info: Toilets are available at the campsite restaurant or on the terrace at the lake.
Hidden Gem
At the Fontauna playground and at Lag da Claus there are well-equipped fire pits. Ice cream is available at the campsite restaurant or on the terrace by the lake.
Equipment
Bring swimwear in good weather; the water of Lag da Claus is just the right temperature.
Directions
From the Sedrun train station, we hike in a westerly direction. In Camischolas - sura, we turn right after the stream. This leads us to a traffic-free road. At Rueras, we meet the main road again, which we cross. On Via Vitg, we walk into the village. At Tgesa Hitz, we turn left. It goes downhill to the Viva campsite. On the other side of the Rhine, we follow the road past the playground, through the forest to the power station, and straight on to Surrein. We stay on the road until the junction where we turn left down to the lake. Over the bridge, we return to the starting point at Sedrun.
