Hidden Gem
Pack your backpack and enjoy a cozy grill & chill at the Chalchofen hut!
Directions
From Schiers train station, follow the signs to the Salginatobel Bridge. After about 500 meters, you leave the village and turn left into the Schraubach ravine. After passing a gravel plant, you hike along the Schraubach stream to the Chalchofen hut. The circular route starts at the Chalchofen hut in the Schraubach ravine. The historic circular route is already signposted from the train station and leads from the hut in about an hour around the world monument back to the starting point. The ascent to the viewing platform follows on the right side of the Salginatobel. The view from the bridge into the ravine is simply magnificent! The view sweeps down over 90 meters. If you like, take a detour under the bridge; the hollow box is partially accessible and impressive. To the right of the bridge, the hiking trail then leads back towards the valley. Look back and marvel at the engineering skill that has gifted Schiers residents with Switzerland's only world monument.
