Description
The start is the parking lot of the Savognin cable cars. Past the bathing lake, the road follows with a relaxed ride through Julia to the next bridge. From there, the route climbs gently to the Wakker Prize-winning village of Riom. The ascent continues on forest roads up to just before Parsonz, where it changes to an easy path towards Salouf. The somewhat steeper climb towards Ziteil begins in Salouf at the village entrance, on a shaded road through the forest. Once the tree line is reached, there are two beautiful alpine huts, Munter and Ratitisch, on the left and right. Afterwards, Ziteil is reached across meadows, the highest point of the route. This second part requires considerable strength and stamina. But once at the top, the effort is rewarded: the view over the Surses valley is magnificent. A visit to the pilgrimage church in Ziteil at 2433 meters is worth it. However, it is only open limited hours, mostly on weekends.
