Alp Mora Whirlpools

Strudeltöpfe Alp Mora
Streams and rivers have modelled a picturesque gorge here!

Arranged like a string of pearls, the whirlpools on Alp Mora form veritable bathtubs. Sand and gravel in the water have been grinding the grey limestone ridges of the stream for thousands of years. The rocky ridges stem from the Jurassic period and already have a few million years on their clocks.

From Bargis it goes over a first ascent to the Alp Lavadignas. From here you continue along the imposing rock faces to the high valley Muletg and past the avalanche barrier Platt'Alva. From there it is only a few minutes to the whirlpool pots on Alp Mora.

The hike from Bargis and back takes about 6.5 hours.

From Trin you walk on the old alpine path always in the shade of the trees until you also reach the avalanche barrier Platt'Alva. The hike to Alp Mora takes about 3 hours. For the descent you add another 2 hours.
