The famous crystals of the Péz Regina are among the largest groups found in the Alps to date. The group "Star of the Four Winds" weighs 1150 kg and can be seen in a shop window at Casa Lumerins.

Description

In 2003, after three years of salvage work, the two emitters Michael Flepp and Alfons Derungs retrieved two large groups of rock crystals from a fissure on the Péz Regina. Already during the work in the cave, the two emitters decided that the large group (Group II) would go to Michael Flepp and the small group (Group I) to Alfons Derungs. Crystal group I was given the name "Sun of Péz Regina", crystal group II was called "Star of the Four Winds".

The crystals of group II are mostly large, distinctive, rather coarse and slightly milky. A small part of the group is more finely structured. Some phantom tips are striking.

In the beginning, the two crystals were exhibited at the most important mineral exchanges throughout Europe and one group was even shown at the World Expo in Japan. Michael Flepp then sold his crystal group "Star of the Four Winds" to the Foundation for Art, Culture and History in Winterthur. The group was shown only once in an exhibition in Bern, the rest of the time it was mothballed in a depot in Winterthur. Thanks to the great commitment of the Pro Lumerins, the group returned to Lumbrein on loan in 2023. The crystal can be seen there in a shop window on the ground floor of Casa Lumerins.
