Chapel of St. Nicholas, Runs

The Chapel of St. Nicholas in Runs is located along the old cantonal road to the west of Rabius. This simple baroque building, like many other chapels in the Surselva region, dates back to the 17th century. It stands along the old path that once passed through the hamlet of Runs towards Disentis-Mustér.

Description

After suffering damage from a fire, the chapel was thoroughly renovated in 1930. It was restored again in 1992-1993, and the roof was covered with shingles. The chapel is open at all times, inviting visitors to enter and reflect. It will continue to watch over the new bridge of Val Mulinaun, which opened in the fall of 2017, day and night, for many decades to come. The small vaulted chapel faces south. The nave is 3.5 meters long and 3.30 meters wide. On the altar stands a late Gothic wooden statue of St. Nicholas from the 16th century.
