Count de Renesse had the church built in 1882 to a design by the famous Belgian architect Jules Rauh.

Description

The church is located in the Cresta district and is part of the Maloja Palace, Schweizerhaus and Belvedere ensemble - all historicizing buildings that Count de Renesse had built for his Alpine resort. Until 1967, it was the Catholic church of Maloja. In 1968, the Catholics consecrated their new church on the cantonal road between Chesa Alpina and Hotel Schweizerhaus and the Chiesa Bianca (then still called San Gaudenz) was secularized.
Today, exhibitions, concerts and festivals are held here during the summer season.
