Italian migrant workers who live in the

local hospitality industry and helped farmers harvest hay,

also brought the Catholic faith back to the valley.

Far outside the historic village centre, on the Splügen Pass road,

near the bridge over the Hüscherabach a chapel was built. Today

it is used as accommodation under the name Hüschera Lodge. The

Christ the King Church, which we see here, was built in 1939 and is still being used

still used as a place of worship. It was designed by an external architect

by the young Kurt Zehnder from Aargau, but the execution was

local craftsmen.

This building represents a retrospective homeland style, as it can be seen in the

context of the Spiritual National Defence of the 1930s

The bell gable above the entrance is striking. He is already signalling from
