Listed and oldest church in the municipality of Sils

Description

Sils Baselgia takes its name from the late Gothic church of St. Lorenz, which is picturesquely situated on the Inn and was first mentioned in a document in 1356. It is free-standing and surrounded by the local cemetery. Church renovations are documented in the years 1680, 1750 and 1834. In 1968 the harmonium was replaced by an organ from the workshop of the company Maag AG, Zurich. During the last renovation in 1980, the paneling in the choir was removed and the organ, which stood opposite the pulpit, was moved to its current location. At the same time, the instrument was rebuilt by the organ building company Felsberg and adapted to the structural conditions at the new location. Two bells hang in the tower with the keys: d` and dis`. Summer: A village tour starts here every Monday at 2 p.m. Register at the Tourist Information Sils +41 81 838 50 50.
