Hans Ulrich Frey and Stephan Burkhardt have been running the Parnassia workshop in the beautiful mountain village of Vättis (950 meters above sea level) since 2001. What began as a fascination with old books has quickly grown into a complete workshop (printing house) where lead letters are cast using traditional methods, printed on hand presses, and bound into books in the classic style. In its work, the workshop strives to achieve unity between text, selected materials, artistic design, craftsmanship, and production—just as traditional craftsmanship achieved in its heyday. The workshop consists of four departments, which work closely together on orders thanks to the small size of the business, enabling the creation of solid works of art: - Foundry - Hand typesetting - Printing - Hand bookbinding We are happy to give tours of our business.
