Naturwald La Niva

Due to the harsh environmental conditions, the trees reach their distribution limit and do not reach the height of 50 meters to which they can grow at lower altitudes. Where the forest becomes looser and looser upwards, the black grouse feels comfortable. On the open pitches above the tree line are the courtship sites, which are used again and again every year. In the 52-hectare natural forest, the last large-scale logging took place in 1959, the last tree was felled in 1993. In La Niva, it is therefore already possible to see how a forest develops without the use of wood.
