Tgamon Tocfs − Historic hay huts in Parc Ela

Alpine areas that are suitable as meadows were not simply used as grazing areas, but were mowed every second or third year. Around the Piz Toissa, this mountain hay used to be temporarily stored in hay huts called "tgamons" and only brought down to the valley on tarpaulins or sleds during the winter months when there was little work.
The Tgamon in Tocfs on Alp Foppa was repaired again in August 2023. The construction measures were carried out by hand and with wood from the region by a carpenter. The measures were financially supported by the Office for Nature and Environment of the Grisons. Visit this historic cultural element on a hike as a witness to traditional agriculture and old crafts. In summer, you can easily travel by bike and hiking bus from Savognin to Cre digl Lai. If you continue your hike via Ziteil, the highest pilgrimage site in Switzerland, to Salouf Münter, you will see another tgamon on the meadows below the Maiensäss village, which will be structurally maintained in October 2022.
