Villa Garbald

Villa Garbald (oua_51932359_image)
None other than the famous architect Gottfried Semper designed the "Italian country house" in 1862, which was renovated in 2004 by the architects Miller & Maranta and supplemented with the new "Roccolo" building. The buildings can be visited on weekly guided tours.

Description

Villa Garbald - Semper's only building south of the Alps - was occupied by the Garbald couple in the spring of 1864 and lived in by their childless descendants until 1958. Since 1958, the villa and the family's rich cultural legacy have been owned by the Fondazione Garbald.

Today, the listed Villa Garbald is a popular venue for workshops and retreats for groups and committees from the fields of science, education, culture and business. The special "spirito" of the Villa Garbald seminar center includes cultural events and an annually changing art exhibition by contemporary artists with a focus on photography, which is organized in collaboration with the Bündner Kunstmuseum.
